Case study

Implementing e-commerce to capture revenue potential

Client

Privately owned footwear retail store with single brick and mortar location

Impact

Diversified revenue streams to include online transactional capabilities and to limit impacts from the pandemic. Ability to improve customer experience, drive awareness and greater sales conversions.

Issue

Owner seeing declining trend in sales over the previous 3 years. The client had an outdated Point-of-Sale (POS) system which wasn’t compatible with integrating with an ecommerce solution. The client was aware of online but couldn’t quantify the opportunity and didn’t know how to approach and implement.

Approach

Firstly, we needed to implement a new POS system that would be compatible with an online ecommerce solution. We underwent a system selection process for a new POS and future ecommerce platform. Once we selected appropriate systems, we project managed the implementation process with included data migration and training.

Outcome

Successfully implemented both POS and ecommerce systems and launched within 6 months.   Ecommerce now represents 30% of total revenue composition and the business was able to transact through the pandemic and limit revenue impacts.
